Explore U.S. placesMoving to a new country brings big questions. Where could I work or build a business? What might a home cost? Where can I meet people who share my heritage, speak a familiar language, or enjoy the same things?

Imagine you are choosing a U.S. community for a job, a business, or a new beginning. The decision includes both opportunity and daily life. You may need to compare housing costs, travel to work, local support, and places where you can take part.
Begin with a city or metro for the wider setting, then use the connected ZIP housing lookup for dated home-value and rent indicators. Move Where Love Is supplies that housing feed. A particular home still needs its own current price, condition, and location check.
Explore roots through Heritage Search below and the Follow Your Heart community directory. These tools describe groups in places. Meet local hosts and ask which services, activities, and conversations fit your own interests.
Try this: Shortlist two places. Compare one housing cost, one practical need, and one local connection you want to explore.

Start with a ZIP code, city, or community name. Search the retained community summaries. A city search returns individual ZIP records. It does not calculate a city total or rank places.
This is a partial view of each community. The source retains selected groups for each ZIP. A missing group may still live there. Counts can overlap across lenses. Language measures and margins of error are not included in this file.

Start with the top 10 U.S. city markets, then choose View all covered areas. The community rankings keep birthplace, Mexican origin, and Indigenous identity separate. The ZIP search above continues to show the selected summaries retained in your master-clean source.
You do not have to begin with a ZIP code. Start with a city or a larger metro area to learn about jobs, industries, colleges, travel, and business support. Then explore ZIP codes for a closer look at housing and community life.
A city is a named local place. A metro is a wider area connected by work and travel. A ZIP code helps route mail. These areas have different boundaries, so a fact about one does not automatically describe the others.
| Start here | Questions to explore | How to use the evidence |
|---|---|---|
| City or metro | Where could I work, start a business, study, or find local support? | Use city or metro sources with their stated boundaries. A list of ZIP areas is not an official city total. |
| ZIP code | What do housing indicators show? What community roots and local services can I explore? | Read each measure’s date and coverage. Keep estimates for Census areas clearly labeled. |
| Specific home or business site | What is available now? What will it cost? Does it meet my needs? | Check current listings, quotes, travel routes, and property details with the right local professionals. |
Move Where Love Is publishes ZIP-level housing records. Our connected housing tool requests that feed for a ZIP you choose, with typical home values, observed rent, source months, and available annual changes. Use your own costs to build a monthly budget.

Check ZIP housing figuresYou may want to find people who share your heritage, speak a familiar language, or understand part of your life. Community research can help you begin. Local groups, cultural events, places of worship, libraries, and exchange organizations can help you meet people.
Use Heritage Search at the top of this page to explore by ZIP, city, or a community name available in the source. Each result shows the community summary and whether a checked Census-area link is available. The Follow Your Heart community directory offers separate, labeled city-market rankings.
Heritage or ancestry: the roots people report. A person may report more than one.
Birthplace: where someone was born. This is a different measure from ancestry.
Language: what a source says people speak, such as a language spoken at home. Language data will appear only when supplied and defined.
These facts describe groups in an area. They do not establish anyone’s citizenship, current nationality, business ties, or individual preferences. People can build connections across every community.
Business networks, local councils, and exchange hosts can help you learn about a place and meet people. Their programs have different purposes. Ask which services are open to newcomers and what fits your goals.
Meet the diplomacy networksInternational investment connects a business with a place. People also need homes, useful information, and local relationships. Helping newcomers research these needs can support a place’s ability to welcome international talent and business.
Business foreign direct investment and personal relocation answer different questions. BEA’s business definition centers on cross-border ownership and influence in an enterprise. A move or personal home purchase alone does not establish that measure.
Read BEA’s investment definitionsExplore ZIP migration history for recorded movement and income estimates across 2019–2022. Then use the 500 Cities historical maps to inspect 2010 population and tract portions within the project areas. Each source keeps its own geography and period.

The linked Move Where Love Is state, locality, and ZIP housing endpoints were checked on October 20, 2026. The housing records include individual observation months and missing values. You can request the dated ZIP housing records in connected data. Area indicators help you compare context; current property listings and agent quotes answer a different question.
The community API is a dated publication of the supplied master-clean serving layer: 39,487 ZIP records, 33,703 direct Census ZCTA matches, and 5,784 ZIP records without that direct match. It retains source-selected heritage and identity summaries, variable IDs when supplied, counts, source shares, and geographic relationship flags. The file labels its ACS context as 2024 5-Year; it does not separately record an observation period or margin of error for each retained heritage summary. Census ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) are statistical areas and differ from postal ZIP codes. City or metro comparisons need a documented geographic bridge or separate official city and metro data. The city search lists ZIPs and does not aggregate their estimates. Missing coverage stays visible. Download the community source audit.
Heritage and language are optional community research lenses. They are kept separate from housing prices, business opportunity scores, and the existing Sister City research rankings.
